Support ConsultationHelp us define what support families need
Throughout summer 2019 we’ll be posting course, activity and support ideas for consultation. We especially want to hear from people who would be keen to share their skills with others, be it cooking or green fingers, or perhaps you are fitness trainer and would be keen to help promote your enterprise and provide training to help us build a programme of support for families and the wider community as well.
To give us some ideas of what support could be of the most helpful vote on the themed polls below. If there is something you feel we could also focus on that isn’t covered do please get in touch with your ideas.
A Healthy Mind 🧠
Good mental health is a vitally important area to provide support to those who need it. It is also an incredibly diverse area to try to cover so to begin to give us a steer on areas to concentrate on we’d like to get an idea of themes you feel would be of help, Below is a poll to help make an initial attempt to define support to provide. You can select more than one option.
Healthy Eating Advice 🥦
What to cook, how to fit it into a busy family lifestyle, how not to break the bank buying in healthy ingredients, and most importantly making something the kids will eat and not either leave on the plate or quietly feed to the dog under the table. Eating right is vital to well-being but what areas can we best focus advice on? You can select more than one option.
Keeping the body a well oiled machine need not mean pumping iron like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Stallone, it can simply be getting moving out in the fresh air. Regular walking, encouraged by being out in nature is good for both body and mind, but sometimes not all that easy to achieve. So what can we provide to perhaps get people moving more and enjoying keeping fit? You can select more than one option.
Getting Together 🤝
Isolation was once seen as a rural issue, with people physically off the beaten track making connections with others could be difficult. It was also seen as more of a problem for the older generation as friends moved on and perhaps mobility and finance keep people from staying engaged. It is however a much broader problem, parents caught up in focusing on raising little ones can feel isolated even when surrounded by loving family. Being connected online sounds like a solution but that can lead people to look introspectively at their lives compared to apparently, and usually false, glittering narratives they see of people on Instagram. Sometimes getting together to focus on an activity of interest keeps isolation at bay and makes new and lasting friendships. What activities would bring people together? Let’s start a list!
